1. Speciality Committee of Anti-corrosion Engineering
The Speciality Committee of Anti-Corrosion Engineering of CSCP was founded in 1996 consisting of enterprises and units having advanced anti-corrosion companies, manufacturers of anti-corrosion engineering projects.
The tenets of the committee are: Uniting workers from the field of science, engineering technological staff and managers from all over China, the committee will develop new anti-corrosion technologies and products. Also the committee is going to improve the technological level and quality of anti-corrosion engineering projects.
The tasks of the committee are: (1) Launching information exchange of anti-corrosion engineering project. (2) Providing consulting and technological services for improving the quality of anti-corrosion engineering projects. (3) Helping to develop and introduce new technologies, arts and products needed by anti-corrosion projects. (4) Carrying out activities of popularizing modern science and continual education to improve the general technological level of anti-corrosion engineering team. (5) Promoting the implementation and management of anti-corrosion engineering projects to make anti-corrosion products and technologies more standardized and serialized.
It’s been six years since the establishment of the committee. It has successfully held two national conferences on anti-corrosion engineering projects of metropolitan buried pipelines and a national conference on anti-corrosion engineering projects of steel structures. Three proceedings having different examples of anti-corrosion projects have been published. What the committee has done has made great contribution to the development of new anti-corrosion products and technologies. Also the committee together with CSCP organized several training courses on various buried pipelines, helping popularizing the technologies of anti-corrosion implementation and improving the quality of anti-corrosion engineering projects.
2. Speciality Committee of Surface Protection Technology
Speciality Committee of Surface Protection Technology was founded in 1982. This committee’s interest covers different aspects including surface treatment (phosphating, chromating, removal of rust, passivation, chemical conversion coatings), surface coating technologies (electroplating, chemical deposition, thermos-spraying, corrosion-preventing painting, galvanization, surface alloying using lasers, plasma surface treating), anti-rust technologies (inhibitors, corrosion-preventing oils and fluids, water-based agents) and other corrosion control methods.
The committee organizes a conference for information communication about research, development and applied technologies every 2 years, 10 conferences on surface technologies applied in corrosion protection have been held in China by the committee, more than 3500 members attended the conferences.
A lot of universities, research institutes, enterprises and professors, researchers and experienced engineers became the members of the committee and keep in touch with each other. More and more new technologies and new product information are exchanged between members in meetings or exhibitions. The committee also publishes papers by working with other academic units from time to time. New technologies are being developed by the committee.
3. Speciality Committee of Corrosion Electrochemistry and Testing Technique
The foundation ceremony of CETT and the first national conference on corrosion electrochemistry was held in July 1981 in Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese academy of Sciences, Changchun, Jilin province.
The research focuses of CETT are listed as follows:
Investigation and popularization of electrochemical principles in corrosion and protection; Development of testing techniques and apparatus of corrosion electrochemistry;
Application of theories and testing techniques of corrosion electrochemistry in engineering;
Electrochemical methods for corrosion failure analysis, monitoring and life prediction;
Electrochemical techniques and advances of corrosion control;
Corrosion behavior of coatings and platings, and electrochemical methods for the determination of corrosion resistance.
CETT hosts a national conference on corrosion electrochemistry every other year. Many academic activities in the conferences appeared in an energetic and free atmospheres.
During the past 20 years, CETT had held conferences symposiums, forums and exhibitions of testing apparatuses, as a result, the corrosion electrochemistry level of many corrosion engineers was improved and electrochemical testing apparatuses began to be widely used in education, research and engineering application. All these have given a great push to the development of corrosion electrochemistry and testing techniques in China.
4. Speciality Committee of Hot-dip Galvanizing
The Speciality Committee of Hot-dip Galvanizing of Chinese Society for Corrosion & Protection, founded in December of 2000, is a non-governmental organization affiliated to Chinese Society for Corrosion & Protection, Now it’s located in the Central Iron & Steel Research Institute.
The committee has about 500 members including researchers, engineers, technicians and entrepreneurs, etc. from the hot-dip galvanizing industry of China. The main activities of the committee are: promoting academic exchanges and cooperation in China and abroad; popularizing knowledge and technologies in hot-dip galvanizing; editing and publishing academic publications; providing technical training and upholding the legal rights of all members.
5. Speciality Committee of Chemical Process Industry
The Speciality Committee of Corrosion & Protection in Chemical Industry was founded in 1979, affiliated with Chemical Industrial Machinery Institute. It has five departments: chemical industry, chemical fertilizer, metallurgy, metallurgy, oil refining and petrol-chemistry.
For many years the committee has been devoting itself to the development of corrosion & protection technologies, communicating with domestic and foreign counterparts, holding seminars and conferences, organizing constitution and exhibitions, popularizing new products, etc.
6. Speciality Committee of Soil Corrosion & Protection
The Speciality Committee of Crrosion & Protection in Soil of CSCP celebrated its foundation in July 1986 in Dalian Liaoning.
The committee is subordinate to the Daqing oilfield construction design & research institute including three divisions; metal, nonmetal and cable academic group. Its main goals are to promote national technology communication on soil corrosion and protection; popularize knowledge of soil corrosion and protection; participate in international academic communication activities, enhance the friendly exchanges between academic associations in the same field at home and abroad, set up special technology classes and improve the academic levels of the committee members.
Up to now, the committee has held several symposiums, set up a number of training classes, and also published a volume of papers on soil corrosion. The committee members have published over 200 papers, in which more than 10 were published internationally.
Now the committee has 36 member units, most of the members are subject leaders on corrosion and protection.
The activities held by the committee are of great realistic importance for the development of research on soil corrosion and protection and improvement of the academic level.
7. Speciality Committee of Corrosion Inhibitors
The Corrosion Inhibitor Committee was founded in 1981, and the committee office is located in the Laboratory of Corrosion and Protection of Metals of HUST (Huazhong University of Science and Technology). Now the committee consiste of scientists and technologists from 38 universities, a committee election is held every four years. The committee holds a national symposium of corrosion inhibitors every 2 years.
The main objectives of the Corrosion Inhibitor Committee are:
(1) Stimulating the extensive academic communications in corrosion inhibitor researchers,
(2) Improving theory level of corrosion inhibitors,
(3) Accelerating the application speed of corrosion inhibitors technologies.
The main work of the committee includes:
Until 2001, the Corrosion Inhibitor Committee has held national symporiums twelve times, including more than 1300 representatives and 1100 papers. These papers exhibit the latest achievement in the field of corrosion inhibitors and play a very important role in improving the research and application of corrosion inhibitors in China.
The committee always introduces the latest achievement in corrosion inhibitor researches and applications to people in the field of corrosion inhibitors and provides technological consultations to enterprises. The committee also promotes actively the transformations of the theories of corrosion inhibitors into practical technologies.
8. Speciality Committee of Nonmetallic Material
The Speciality Committee of nonmetallic material (NMSP) is one of the 15 committees under the command of the Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection. It has been attached to Beijing University of Chemical Industry since its foundation in 1981 as a non-governmental academic organization. The members, including scientists, educators, managers and popular science workers etc, from various fields, are engaged in study on the corrosion mechanisms and protection technologies of nonmetallic materials, development and application of anti-corrosion nonmetallic materials. The committee is devoted to propelling the progress in study on corrosion mechanisms and protection technologies of nonmetallic materials, the development and application of anti-corrosion nonmetallic materials in China. The committee obligatorily propagates and popularizes the basic knowledge and experiences relative to corrosion mechanisms and protection technologies of nonmetallic materials, development and application of the anti-corrosion nonmetallic materials, and bridges between scientific researchers and users closely for the develop and application of corrosion resistant non-metallic materials.
9. Speciality Committee of Architectural Industry
The Speciality committee of Corrosion & Protection of Architectural Industry was founded in 1983 attached to the Metallurgical Construction Institute.
The committee’s business relates to anti-corrosion design of steel bars and concrete structures, implementation of relative regulations, developing anti-corrosion construction materials and their applications, anti-corrosion construction arts and their checking, corrosion and protection methods of the bars in the concrete, corrosion evaluation and testing methods repairing technologies, experiences and materials of finished buildings attacked by corrosion, surface protection technologies of supplementary construction equipment, tanks, pipelines and other parts, the relations between corrosion examples of industrial, seaports, bridges, hydrotechnics and civilian constructions and national economy, other technological, academic problems relative to the corrosion and protection of constructions.
The committee focuses on academic activities, organizing seminars from time to time, and holding a national conference every 2-3 years. Different technological consultation activities were spread over China by the committee including training courses. Popularizing anti-corrosion knowledge in construction, improving the level of relative staff and publishing “Brief Express of Work?at times also are included in the committee’s work.
10. Speciality Committee of High Temperature Corrosion & Protection
The Speciality Committee of High Temperature Corrosion & Protection (SCHTCP), one of the oldest committees of CSCP, was established in April 1981, The committee’s secretary office is located in the Institute of Metal of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The committee promotes exchanges in researches, technologies and experiences for researchers having knowledge background of high temperature corrosion and protection coatings happened/needed in industries including aeronautics, astronautics, petrol-chemistry, metallurgy and energy etc. Such as organizing meetings, technology training and consulting. In order to enhance the contact between researchers and companies, accelerate applications of new results, introduce new knowledge and techniques, and inerease the links among research units in China and abroad, the committee, which is composed of experts researchers and engineers from different industries, has held national conference six times. An international conference on high temperature corrosion and protection, and co-organized national meetings on thermal spray and surface engineering several times with other speciality committees. The committees. The committee also hosts a national conference on high temperature corrosion and protection every 3 years and a committee member meeting each year.
11. Speciality Committee of Seawater, Industrial water and Bio-enviroment
The Speciality committee of seawater, industrial water and bio-environment, also called water environment special committee, is one of the earliest founded and the most active secondary academic organizations of Chinese Society for Corrosion and Protection, and has been attatched to the Qingdao branch of Luoyang ship material research institute.
This committee includes five divisions focusing on seawater corrosion, coating, electrochemical protection, industrial water and biology, respectively. Among them, electrochemical protection, seawater corrosion and coating divisions are the most active in various academic activities, and they have made significant contributions to the popularization and improvement of the corrosion and protection technology of metal structures in water environment. Because of their excellent work, they have got a good reputation in industrial and academic fields, Additionally, this committee has successfully sponsored important academic activities 6 times, and hold another one in Qingdao-the 3rd across-strait conference on material corrosion and protection in 2002.
12. Speciality Committee of Protection in Energy Industries
The Speciality Committee of Corrosion and Protection in Energy Industries of Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection was established at Wuhan city, Hubei province in May 1983. After its establishment, the muclear division and coal division were setup by sequence. Now the 5th committee is in charge.
The nuclear division has launched academic exchanges and symposiums successively at different places of China. The proposal “Suggestions on the corrosion and protection of nuclear power device?proposed by the committee has drawn great concerns from Li Peng, the state council leader at that time, and was listed as “The three major documents of the China Association of Science and Technology?and was transmitted to its subordinate divisions. Besides, the nuclear discipline group also participated in compiling serial books on corrosion organized by the Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection.
The coal division was set up at Beijing Jingxi Mineral Bureau in 1984, and has held national conferences four times on corrosion and protection of coal equipment, as well as three times seminars. Besides, the coal division aided the personnel from the Ministry of Coal Industry to compile “National construction regulations on pit shaft? published 30 issues of the corrosion and protection in coal industry, organized and compiled the fascicule of “Corrosion and protection in coal industry?
The committee has also sponsored national seminars on corrosion and protection of solar energy materials, and conducted several field surveys on corrosion and protection problems of geothermal materials and equipment.
Generally, the past 19 years witnessed 19 academic exchanges in the energy engineering field launched by the committee. All these activities played an important role in protecting materials and equipment in the fields of nuclear power and coal industry and have obtained considerable economic profit returns.
13. Speciality Committee of Corrosion Resistance of Alloys
The Alloy Anti-Committee, which is attached to the Central Iron & Steel Research Institute, was founded on July 28, 1981. It has witnessed the shifts of six committees up to now. The Sixth Committee is composed of 32 members and three branches, including the ferrous metal branch, the nonferrous metals branch and the surface technology branch.
The chief tasks of the Alloy Anti-Corrosion Committee are to investigate the relations between alloying and corrosion resistance of materials, to probe into the corrosion resistance mechanisms and testing methods of alloys and furthermore to develop new types of anti-corrosion alloys and related technologies.
After the founding of the Committee, 8 comprehensive academic annual meetings and 26 seminars have been hold, 12 collections of papers have been published and over 1,500 papers have been openly discussed. More than 3,000 people have taken part in the activities organized by the Alloy Anti-Corrosion Committee.
14. Speciality Committee of Hydrogen Embrittlement and Stress Corrosion Cracking
Hydrogen Embrittlement and Stress Corrosion Cracking of Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection was founded on 1979.
With the headquarter in The Environmental Fracture Key Laboratory of The Ministry of Education in the University of Science and Technology of Beijing, the committee is a professional organization that focuses on research of hydrogen embrittlement and stress corrosion cracking of materials, from metals to ceramics as well as amorphous materials. Since it was founded, the committee has held four conferences and two symposiums, covering cuvering current interests in hydrogen embrittlement and SCC.
15. Speciality Committee of Aero and Astronautical Industries
The Speciality committee of Corrosion & Protection in Aero and Astronautical Industries of CSCP was founded in 1980. The first committee meeting was held at the Hushan mountain in the same year. BIAM (Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials) is the hosting unit. Until now the committee has had five shifts. The committee has held six academic annual meetings and other five academic activities for commemoration of fifteenth and twentieth anniversary of Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection, published more than 320 papers. Under the lead of Chinese Society of Corrosion and Protection, the committee enhances the technology exchanges in corrosion and protection and surface engineering and promotes the development of surface engineering invigorating the academic atmosphere. In recent years, engineers engaged in surface engineering and managers in aeronautical and astronautical industries also joined the committee. They promote the communication between different manufacturers, enhance the exchange of information, improve the technological level of corrosion and protection and invigorate the economy.
